Meralco beats Rain or Shine 125-124
The Meralco Bolts is now 5th place in the current PBA Philippine Cup after beating Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in three Overtimes, 125-124. Mac Cardona made another winning basket for Meralco scoring on a semihook in the 3rd overtime to give the Bolts the 1 point win. With the win, Meralco now plays Derby Ace Llamados in a best-of-three quarterfinals matchup.
Mac Cardona scored 35 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in 51 minutes while Chris Ross played 56 minutes scoring 14 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds and 7 steals including a layup to force overtime. Gabby Espinas scored 20 points while newcomer Reed Juntilla from Barako scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in hist first game with the bolts. (Read Meralco gets Juntilla, Isip from Barako)
Meralco outrebounded ROS, 71-58 with 7 players getting 5 or more rebounds led by Asi Taulava with 10 rebounds and Hans Thiele with 9 rebounds.
