With Sol Mercado and Mark Cardona out with an injury, the Meralco Bolts needed all the scoring they can get as 8 players scored 5 or more points led by Gabby Espinas with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks to defeat the newest PBA Team Shopinas.com Clickers. Veteran Asi Taulava made a crucial fall-away jumper to keep the Clickers at bay in the last 2 minutes.
Although Meralco showed they can share the ball, it was their defense in the end game that sealed their 1st win against 1 loss. Paulo Hubalde led Shopinas with 21 points which fell to 0-2 in their 1st season in the PBA.
