Meralco defeats B-Meg, 84-78
The Meralco Bolts won their 2nd straight game without top scorers Sol Mercado and Mac Cardona, this time led by Chico Lanete with 24 points, 9 assists and 3 steals. The Llamados cut down the lead to 1, 77-76 with a little more than 2 minutes left in the game but the defense of Meralco held B-Meg to only 2 points after and Asi Taulava and Mark Borboran scored crucial baskets to seal the win for the Bolts.
Mark Isip scored 18 points and newcomer Mark Borboran contributed 10 points as Meralco needed all the points they can get with Mercado and Cardona still recovering from their respective injuries. James Yap led B-Meg in scoring with 19 points. Meralco now with 2 wins and 1 loss in the PBA Philippine Cup.
