New Bolts player and rookie Vic Manuel had a break-out game with 18 points and 8 rebounds but Meralco got beat by Alaska, 85-81. Alaska import Robert Dozier led the Aces with 27 points while Meralco import Eric Dawson contributed 15 points only but grabbed 13 rebounds. Ronjay Buenafe with 14 points including 2 three-pointers in the last 2 minutes to make the game close. Chris Ross with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 block.

Meralco Bolts defeats San Mig Coffee Mixers, 87-77
December 9, 2012

The Meralco Bolts ended the Philippine Cup Elimination round with a win over the San Mig Coffee Mixers, 87-77. Mac Cardona and Reynel Hugnatan led the Bolts with 15 points each. Sol Mercado scored 12 points while Mark Borboran and Ronjay Buenafe scored 9 points each.

Meralco will face the Alaska Aces in the PBA quarterfinals, they will have a best-of-three series starting on Wednesday, December 12 at 7:30pm. Rookies Cliff Hodge vs Calvin Abueva!

Meralco Bolts defeats Alaska, 112-110

Rookie Cliff Hodge had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds (also with 2 blocks) to lead the Meralco Bolts to a win over the Alaska Aces, 93-86. After losing their opening game against Talk N Text, Meralco notched their 1st win in the 2012 PBA Philippine Cup.

Mac Cardona played well scoring 16 points (2/3 from three-point range) as 5 players scored in double-digits including Ronjay Buenafe with 13 points and Sol Mercado and Sunday Salvacion both with 10 points. Mercado also had 9 assists playing extended minutes as point guard with Chris Ross missing the game due to an injury.

Another rookie Kelly Nabong had a good game with 6 points and 11 rebounds.

New import Mario West had an astounding debut with 33 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists but it was the play of the most senior Bolts player Asi Taulava (23 points and 12 rebounds) that stopped the losing streak of Meralco by beating the Alaska Aces, 100-95.

Special mention goes to Rookie Gilbert Bulawan who scored 9 points and also had 3 rebounds and 2 assists. 26 assists by Meralco compared to only 11 by Alaska led by Chris Ross with 8 assists (and also with 4 steals) and Mac Cardona with 5 assists. Jay-R Reyes contributed 4 points and 4 rebounds against his former team.

Import Jason Forte led Alaska with 24 points. Meralco improved their record to 2 wins and 3 losses and must win their last 4 games to improve their chances in advancing to the next round.
