The Meralco Bolts was held scoreless in the last 8 minutes of the game as San Mig Coffee goes on to win the game and is now in the PBA Semifinals against the Alaska Aces. Eric Dawson led Meralco with 24 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals but committed 7 turnovers and was 0-4 in the 4th quarter. Mac Cardona led the locals with 19 points along with 7 rebounds.

Chris Ross had another all-around game with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists but the Bolts fell short again and has not been in the semifinals since acquiring the Sta. Lucia franchise 3 years ago. Denzel Bowles led San Mig Coffee with 23 points and James Yap with 20 points.

San Mig Coffee Mixers won Game 2 and setup a do-or-die Game 3 against the Meralco Bolts. Denzel Bowles led the Mixers with 35 points and 14 rebounds, while Meralco import Eric Dawson with 23 points, 23 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals.

Mac Cardona contributed 14 points along with 10 rebounds and 3 assists, Chris Ross had a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists.

Game 3 will be on Wednesday, April 24, 5:15pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

San Mig Coffee led by 10 in the 1st quarter but Meralco came back in the 2nd quarter and maintained the lead till the end as they now lead the best-of-three series 1-0. Eric Dawson despite having a leg-injury scored 25 points along with 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Chris Ross had an all-round game with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals for the Bolts.

Mixers import Denzel Bowled led the team with 37 points but Meralco held James Yap and Peter June Simon in single-digits. Ronjay Buenafe (3/5 from 3-pt range) and Sunday Salvacion (3/7 from 3-pt rangr) both contributed 13 points as Meralco needs just 1 more win this Sunday to be in the final 4 for the 1st time since joining the PBA.

The Meralco Bolts ended the Philippine Cup Elimination round with a win over the San Mig Coffee Mixers, 87-77. Mac Cardona and Reynel Hugnatan led the Bolts with 15 points each. Sol Mercado scored 12 points while Mark Borboran and Ronjay Buenafe scored 9 points each.

Meralco will face the Alaska Aces in the PBA quarterfinals, they will have a best-of-three series starting on Wednesday, December 12 at 7:30pm. Rookies Cliff Hodge vs Calvin Abueva!

B-Meg defeats Meralco, 95-85

B-Meg Llamados bounced back from the game 1 loss by beating the Meralco Bolts, 95-85. With still 10:50 left in the 1st quarter, Mac Cardona was ejected with 2 technical fouls (one was a double technical foul with Josh Urbiztondo and 2nd a flagrant foul 1 on Denzel Bowles). After the ejection, B-Meg put up a big lead and ended the 1st quarter, 32-13.

In the 3rd quarter, Meralco came back led by import Earl Barron (39 points and 18 rebounds) and Sol Mercado (18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists), the Bolts scored 39 points as they cut the lead to 8. But in the 4th quarter, Meralco only got within 6 points and the Llamados now forced a do-or-die game 3 which will be held on Sunday, April 8, 6:30pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Meralco Bolts drew first blood as they won game 1 of the best-of-three quarterfinals series against the B-Meg Llamados, 103-81. Import Earl Barron led the Bolts with 34 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists but it was the play of Mac Cardona (22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists) and Asi Taulava (12 points and 13 rebounds, 8 offensive) in the 4th quarter which kept the Llamados at bay. After having a 23-point lead in the 1st half, B-Meg came back in the 4th quarter and cut the lead to 3, 80-77, but Cardona made sure that B-Meg could not get closer by scoring 10 of his 22 points in the 4th quarter.

Special mention goes to Chris Ross as he had another amazing all-around performance with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals.

Meralco had their first quarterfinals win in five conferences and is 1 win away from reaching the Semifinals which will be played this Wednesday, April 4, 5:15pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Meralco Bolts tries to stay alive

The Meralco Bolts will try to stay alive in the current PBA Philippine Cup versus the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados today at 7:30pm at the Araneta Coliseum. A loss by Meralco will eliminate them in this conference but a win will force a do-or-die match up.

Meralco lost to Derby Ace in their 1st game of their best-of-three quarterfinals matchup 106-97 in double overtime and prior to that game, the Bolts won their last elimination game versus Rain or Shine in three overtimes.

Mac Cardona must limit his turnovers and Asi Taulava must use his size to give Meralco a chance to win. Newcomers Hans Thiele, Reed Juntilla and Mark Isip must also step up to force a game 3.
